Komen Chicago Expands Affiliate Staff

August 31, 2011

The Chicagoland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure Welcomes New Development Director and Prepares to Hire Three Additional Staff Members

Chicago (August 26, 2011) – The Chicagoland Area Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® welcomes Jill McGee as the new Director – Development and Corporate Partnerships.  McGee’s previous role as a Deputy Commissioner for the City of Chicago had her leading the marketing and communications strategy for Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Midway International Airport, serving more than 90 million customers per year.

“We are elated to welcome such a phenomenal Chicago power player,” said Michael Ziener, Executive Director of Komen Chicago.  “Jill’s experience, understanding and connection to the cause makes her a dynamic addition to the Komen Chicago affiliate and we are thrilled for what’s to come.”

Ms. McGee’s passion for the cause is personal; she is a breast cancer survivor.  McGee has been an activist for the cause for over 10 years, supporting local walks/runs, fundraisers and volunteering for organizations that provide wellness and education to the community at large.

“Ever since I was diagnosed, all I've wanted to do was to help others going through it, to give back to the community and to make a difference,” said McGee.  “I am confident that I will be able to do all of that in this new position and with such an incredible organization.”

Prior to working for the City of Chicago, McGee spent 20 years at United Airlines in various leadership roles. McGee received her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management with an emphasis in marketing, strategy and e-commerce.

Additionally, Komen Chicago seeks three individuals to fill careers working towards the fight to end breast cancer forever.  For more information about working for Komen Chicago, please visit our website: KomenChicago.org.
