Participate in an Event

Whether you are a golfer, a bowler, a chef or a runner, you can contribute to the fight against breast cancer 365 days a year. By participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® or another Komen event, you become part of a grassroots network that has changed the way the world talks about and treats breast cancer. You can make a difference as you celebrate survivorship, honor those who have lost their battle, and most importantly, raise funds and awareness for the fight against this life-threatening disease. There are many different ways to support Komen's mission.  

Golf for the Cure®

Please consider joining us at the Golf for the Cure® & Promise Awards Dinner on June 11th, 2010 at the Highland Park Country Club in Highland Park, IL.  This unique event provides our Komen Chicago community the opportunity to rally around a cause that has so deeply affected all of us.  And, this time around it’s not about the score.  Come celebrate with us out on the golf course and over dinner at The Promise Awards Dinner.  Golfers are encouraged to bring along family and friends for dinner to enjoy a three-hour open bar, dinner, entertainment, live and silent auctions, and raffle prizes.  Event details are as follows:

E-Z Movers is uniting with us on our goal to fight Breast Cancer 

E-Z Movers signature pink vehicles which will illustrate awareness of the fight for the cure and allow observers to connect with friends and family to join the fight, for the cure of breast cancer. Ahimsa Global Yoga

Ahimsa Global Yoga is a company that brings Yoga to organizations, corporations and schools that want to give their employees, clients and members an opportunity to bring balance in their lives. Ahimsa Global Yoga is proud to offer classes for Breast cancer survivors. Gayl Walder, RYT, underwent major surgery upon learning she carried the Braca gene. This is an opportunity to connect with other breast cancer survivors or like myself who have had preventative surgery. In recognition of breast cancer awareness, during the month of October, 100% of the proceeds from the class will be donated to Komen Chicago. Major League Baseball

For the 6th year, Susan G. Komen and Major League Baseball are Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer to help our home team hit one out of the ballpark.  To show their support of Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer, MLB players, coaches and umpires will wear pink wristbands and pink ribbon decals on Mother's Day, May 9th.  Louisville Slugger has produced and donated pink bats that hundreds of players will also be using on that day.  Additionally, specially designed Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer merchandise is available online at www.mlb.com and at ballparks nationwide.    

Rally for the Cure®

Rally for the Cure, presented by Conde Nast Publications, is a program with a goal to increase breast health awareness among amateur women golfers and tennis players or group dining parties by supporting the mission of Susan G Komen for the Cure. Since 1996 this program has generated more than $38 million through fundraising efforts of the volunteers running the events. If you decide to host a simple golf or tennis event at your club for breast cancer awareness. Rally for the Cure takes all of the guess work out of the day by providing you with all the materials you will need from the goody bags to the prize. Participants pay a $20 entry fee (non-tax-deductible) to participate in the program and 100% of the fundraising you do benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Chicagoland Area Affiliate. Passionately Pink for the Cure®

Wacoal

In 2010, Susan G. Komen is proud to enter into its 11th year of partnership with Wacoal.  Wacoal will host Fit for the Cure(C) events to help women across the country find their perfect fit.  For every women fitted at a Fit for the Cure(R) event in Wacoal or b.tempt'd, Wacoal will donate $2 to Komen for the Cure plus an additional $2 donation for every Wacoal or d'tempt's bra or shapewear item purchased at an event.  For an event near you, please visit www.fitforthecure.com.
