1. Will messages about my Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® fundraising appear in the Facebook News Feed?
Messages will appear in the news stream whenever there is a change in your fundraising progress, provided you gave the application permission to publish articles to the news stream when you installed the application. These messages will say "Sandy Walker" has received another donation for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®! Help me reach my personal fundraising goal of $XX. Donate today."
You can also trigger a message in the news stream by using the tools on the Komen Race for the Cure Application page - replacing your profile picture with a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure participant logo, posting a message, etc.
2. If I accidentally
deleted my application can I re-add it?
Yes, you can simply go to your Participant Center at Komenchicago.org and click the "Fundraise with Facebook" link to re-add it.
3. Can my friends or
family add my application to their Facebook pages?
No, only registered Komen Chicago Race for the Cure participants may add
the Facebook fundraising application.
4. Can I remove the
application?
Yes, to remove the application, follow these steps:
5. I received a
donation but my application doesn’t reflect it yet.
The application gets updated every few hours. Depending on when the donation came through it may not be reflected yet. If you would like it to update immediately, you can click on the refresh link on the application and it will update the information in 2 to 3 minutes.
6. Why am I seeing
messages on my Facebook profile about receiving a donation when I see no change
in my Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® fundraising account?
Have you recently changed your fundraising goal? Any time there is a change between the amount of your fundraising goal and the amount of your fundraising balance, a notification is triggered.
If you want to disable the message that appears on your profile, please follow these steps:
7. Can I fundraise
using Facebook’s “Causes” feature?
If you set up a Cause on Facebook to fundraise, you can accept donations, but when those donations come to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® they are not associated with your particular participant fundraising account, and therefore we cannot give you credit for that donation for purposes of your fundraising level or rewards. Donations received through the Cause Application are not immediately provided to Susan G. Komen for the Cure; the funds are distributed on a monthly basis by the Cause Application developer, Network for Good. Although Komen appreciates the funds raised through the Cause Application, we recommend that you fundraise through Facebook using the Boundless Fundraising™ application. To install this application on your Facebook page, Participant Center at Komenchicago.org and
click the “Fundraise with Facebook” icon.
8. How do I get to
the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Application page to do things like donate my
profile picture or share a story?
A link will appear on the left-hand side of your Facebook Home page. If you
do not see a link:
9. How can I make my fundraising progress indicator
appear on my profile?
On October 13, 2010, Facebook removed the ability for users to add this to their profile. Your fundraising progress indicator will still appear on the application page, but it will only be visible to you, not your Facebook friends.
