Survivor Info

Race Day Activities include special treatment of our Survivors. Our festively decorated Survivor Café opens at 6:30 a.m. to treat you and a co-survivor guest to a continental breakfast provided by Corner Bakery. You will be greeted by our Zeta Tau Alpha hostesses and volunteers and presented with a special survivor gift and goody bag.

There’s plenty of time to mingle with other survivors and enjoy the day before we set off for the Survivor Parade, Photo and Race Start at 7:30. Be sure to march with other survivors to celebrate your triumph and to spend a moment of silence in honor of those no longer with us. The Survivor Parade puts our Race and the whole experience in proper perspective. We’re reminded of all those qualities that survivors embrace and share with our entire community: Faith, Hope, Love, Family, Strength and Belief.  The pre-Race Rally also raises our level of commitment to a cause that we all care about and energizes us to Race, Run, Walk!

Again this year, Komen Chicago is sponsoring an essay contest to select our banner bearers in both Survivor Parades (Chicago and Lombard). Remind your family and friends that you can be a banner bearer if they nominate you.  Click here for the 2012 Flag Bearer Nomination Form.  Think about who you will nominate, the banners that will be carried are:

Courage - In the face of Cancer they confront it head on and still find joy in life.

Faith - Believing that all things are possible. Having Faith in yourself and those around you who support you along your journey.

Hope - They see the invisible, feel the intangible, and achieve the impossible.

Strength - Despite daunting obstacles they preservere and endure.

Love - It binds and heals, comforts, restores, and it works miracles.

Believe - They know we will cure this disease and they know we will succeed.
